Bulawayo model Thabitha Banda wins 5th Mapressa Glam and Fashion Show in Midrand

Bulawayo model Thabitha Banda was crowned winner of the 5th edition of the Mapressa Glam and Fashion Show held in Midrand, South Africa on Saturday.

A contestant from Kezi District in Matabeleland South took the first runner-up position.

Organisers described the event as the biggest edition to date, drawing participants from Matabeleland and other regions to compete on the runway. The show focused on fashion, glamour and creativity, with contestants presenting designs and stagecraft before judges and an audience.

The night featured several theatrical moments that drew audience attention. MC Samantha made her entrance riding a motorcycle, while artiste Ezebhubesi appeared on stage wearing bull horns in what organisers said was one of the event’s most eye-catching looks.

The Mapressa Glam and Fashion Show, now in its fifth year, has positioned itself as a platform for models and designers from Zimbabwe, particularly Matabeleland, to showcase talent outside the country. Saturday’s edition in Midrand marked an expansion of the event’s reach into South Africa.

Banda’s win adds Bulawayo to the list of Matabeleland districts producing national pageant and fashion titleholders.

The Kezi District contestant’s first runner-up finish also highlighted participation from rural areas.
